Massa Carrara in Toscana - Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Luni
Inaugurato nel 1964, allo scopo di ospitare la grande quantità di reperti rinvenuti presso l’area di scavo, è stato successivamente riallestito nel 1981 in quanto gli spazi espositivi non consentivano la visione completa di tutto il materiale. L’area sorge in prossimità dell’antica foce del fiume Magra. Approdo naturale usato dagli Etruschi e controllato dai Liguri, diviene dapprima porto militare romano, e successivamente, dopo la sconfitta e la deportazione dei 47.000 Liguri Apuani intorno al 180 a. C., colonia fondata da duemila cittadini romani. Il porto, fin dai tempi della frequentazione da parte dei greci, era dedicato alla dea Selene, Luna per i romani, che la adottarono come protettrice della città.
