Lombardy covers approximately the centre of the Po Valley, as well as extending over the middle of the Italian Alps. It borders with Switzerland to the north, Emilia-Romagna to the south, Piedmont to the west and Trentino-Alto Adige and Venetia to the east. History. Three distinct natural zones can be fairly easily distinguished in the Lombardy region: mountain, hill and plain. Almenno S. Bartolomeo e S. Salvatore - Bergamo
Pur non essendo al centro di venerazione, uno dei più importanti edifici religiosi della provincia di Bergamo è la Rotonda di S. Tomé.
E cosi denominato, per la caratteristica architettura, un antichissimo tempietto che si trova in territorio di Almenno S. Bartolomeo.
Il santuario della Madonna del Castello di Almenno S. Salvatore venne innalzato dove già esisteva una antichissima chiesa. Nell'aprile del 1506 un muro di sostegno si scostò di un paio di metri rivelando una immagine della Madonna dipinta sulla facciata.
