Lombardy covers approximately the centre of the Po Valley, as well as extending over the middle of the Italian Alps. It borders with Switzerland to the north, Emilia-Romagna to the south, Piedmont to the west and Trentino-Alto Adige and Venetia to the east. History. Three distinct natural zones can be fairly easily distinguished in the Lombardy region: mountain, hill and plain. Almenno S. Bartolomeo e S. Salvatore - Bergamo
A pesar de no generar una gran veneración, uno de los edfficios religiosos más importantes de la provincia de Bérgamo es la Rotonda de Sto. Tomé.Toma su nombre de su particular estructura arquitectónica. Es un templo antiquísimo que se encuentra en el territorio de Almenno San Bartolomeo.
El santuario de la Madonna del Castello en Almenno San Salvatore se construyó sobre una iglesia existente más antigua. En abril de 1506 uno de los muros de contención se deslizó un par de metros de su posición, revelando una imagen de la Virgen pintada en la fachada.
